. . . and the government will rest on His shoulders.
Man’s authority and rule, whether good or evil, rests upon the shoulders of my Savior. There is nothing that occurs without His notice. Nor does this world’s depravity extend beyond or above the reach of His goodness.
Men’s choosing of sin and death is not outside the limits of Jesus’ power to redeem or restore. He perfectly maintains the balance of all things even when all appears tilted and skewed.
While my heart breaks in watching the celebration of evil, or sin and death rejoiced over, I know my Savior weeps with me. But never do I grieve without hope.
Two thousand years ago, the implementation of infanticide attempted to crush Love and Life. It did not succeed in defeating the King then. It will not triumph now. But that does not mean Satan will cease reaping death and destruction in the wake of his deceptive lies.
May we, as followers of Jesus, maintain His cause of truth and righteousness as fully as we do the Gospel of peace and grace. To love without truth is not loving. And to judge without mercy does not rightly express the heart of the One who came to all of us while we were still sinners.
Satan may be rejoicing in the streets today, just as he did on Good Friday. But the celebration is premature. This present victory is not the end of the battle.
While, statistically, the most dangerous place for a human life today is within its mother’s womb, the safest place is still within our Father’s arms.
Our Savior always has the final say. And therein lies my hope.
The other morning, after learning of election results perpetuating the slaughter of innocent babies, I sadly expressed to my husband, “It’s hard to pray for mercy.”
It’s hard to ask for grace for a people bent on wickedness.
Until I remember a soul’s eternal value.
Until I recall how lost and in need of a Savior we all are.
And in remembering, I choose to ask for mercy.
Because if I don’t, who will?
The very definition of mercy is to receive something undeserved. And right now, I can’t think of people more desperate for grace than those who call evil good and blindly stumble along the dark pathway of deception.
So, I will choose to maintain my privilege as a child of the King and plead for mercy still. I settle my soul in the assurance that evil will bow once again when resurrection power stirs to lift its standard of life. And I will stand alongside my eternal Rescuer to extend His love and truth to a world at odds with Him. As I once was.
I will maintain my watch and pray as I rest my hope upon the very shoulders where all the governments of the world recline – the One who is a Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, my Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace over an unending kingdom. A kingdom established and maintained with justice and righteousness forever.
I hope you’ll join me in praying for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. And rejoice that He bears the weight of it all, no matter how heavy it is today.
But you must return to your God, maintaining love and justice, and always waiting on your God.
– Hosea 12:6

A powerful message. We are all sinners and are in need of mercy. Thank you for this reminder as I too was deeply saddened by the results of the previous election. Thank goodness God is in control! God Bless!

It is difficult to not be disheartened when evil appears to be running rampant. I, too, am thankful our Father remains firmly seated on His throne and is steadfast in His care over us.

This is so beautifully written, Barbara, and it gives a clear but loving reason why we should pray for mercy and grace for the unsaved.
Barbara Snyder
Thank you, Sheila. May we continue to lovingly maintain the cause of righteousness and trust our prayers are being heard and hearts are being moved toward Jesus.

it is hard isn’t it when all around evilness seems to prevail. People calling evil good and not seeing the danger. FMF11

Yes, it is hard. But oh-so necessary to remain steadfast in our faith, and to walk in grace and truth. May Father strengthen us to do so. Thanks for stopping by.
